Spectral and angular distribution of slow electrons emitted by hydrogen atoms in collisions with fast highly charged ions

Abstract

The ionization of hydrogen atoms with the emission of slow electrons in collisions with fast highly charged ions is considered. Analytical expressions are obtained for the singly and doubly differential ionization cross sections and for a quantity which characterizes the angular asymmetry in the escape of slow electrons. A unique feature of the momentum balance for collisions that lead to the emission of slow electrons is discussed.
