Abstract
A simple equation is derived for calculating the energy loss of a relativistic, multiply charged ion moving in an electron plasma in the region where the Born approximation fails. The contribution of the energy losses from collisions with solitary electrons is calculated using the exact Dirac equation for relativistic Coulomb scattering.
