Abstract

Cross sections for the synthesis of superheavy elements were analyzed using a model based on the concept of a dinuclear system. The model reveals the importance of the entrance channel dynamics and competition between quasifission and complete fusion processes. The quantities which are significant for the interaction dynamics of massive nuclei in the entrance channel were discussed.
