VARIETY, FUNCTIONS AND MEANING OF PROVERBS AND SAYINGS OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract

Comparison of proverbs and sayings of  different people shows, how much these people have in common, that, in turn, promotes their best mutual understanding and rapprochement. In proverbs and sayings rich historical experience,  representations associated with work, life and culture of people are reflected. Correct and appropriate use of proverbs and sayings gives speech a unique originality and special expressiveness.
