Abstract

The aim was to study the bioelectrical activity of the brain in children with idiopathic epilepsy. Using clinical, neurological and neurophysiological methods, we examined 60 children (32 boys, 53% and 28 girls, 47%) aged 5 to 10 years old. Results . In group 1, 14 children (24%) were found to suffer from absence epilepsy, while the remaining 26 patients (43%) had tonic-clonic seizures. In group 2, 20 cases (33%) of rolandic epilepsy were diagnosed. The results demonstrate that having even few clinical data, it is possible to discern between different types of seizures in children with idiopathic epilepsy by using a routine EEG analysis.
