Abstract

In the article, experimental tests are carried out to predict the service life of DFB laser diodes used in optical communication systems. The experimentally obtained results were used to estimate the operating time of laser diodes of the DFB type. In this work, the method of automatic control of the power of optical radiation of a laser diode is used to study the process of degradation of laser diodes. For this, the current of the laser diode is regularly adjusted to ensure the stability of the optical radiation of the laser diode. When POC laser diodes are used in an optical transmitter module as a transmitter, the optical power is constantly monitored. Therefore, the use of the method of automatic control of the radiation power in the study of the process of failure of a laser diode provides a high compatibility of the experimental process with the real process of the laser diode operation.
