Abstract
Based on the latest data from the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the International Narcotics Control Board, as well as researches of the experts on illicit drug trafficking this article reveals the causes and factors that contribute to the growth of cultivation and production of drugs in Afghanistan. Particular attention is paid to the peculiarities and new trends in illicit drug trafficking from Afghanistan, the negative consequences of the business of drugs and its impact on security in Central Asia.
