Abstract
The article investigates the impact action of grates on raw cotton in cotton gins for removing large foreign matter. The calculations showed that the load on grates is not high. It is proposed to replace all-metal grates with hollow ∅20 mm pipes. Impact interactions of grates of different shapes (round or trapezoidal; with smooth, corrugated, or elastic working surfaces) on raw cotton fiber bundles of different mass are studied.
