Abstract

The article presents the results of a study of the average multiplicity of charged particles in hadron-hadron collisions at energies >10 GeV. Various hypotheses examining inclusive reactions, predicting their key characteristics at high energies, are presented in detail. The studied hypotheses demonstrate that the increase in <n±> with energy according to the statistical model (Fermi–Landau, Pomeranchuk) can be related by a power law, while other hypotheses yield a logarithmic dependence.
