Smart tourism destinations: A systematic literature review

Abstract

The study aims to determine the dimensions of smart tourism destination to define how recent approaches can be applied to overcome the challenges of the sector. Through reviewing 17 articles in a systematic way from Scopus database (2017-2024), the research identifies eight dimensions of smart tourism destinations, involving digital technologies, sustainability, collaboration, accessibility, innovation, governance, emotions & attitudes and tourism experience. These identified dimensions can help smart destinations to achieve competitive advantages in the dynamic tourism industry.
