Abstract

This chapter examines the growing urgency of securing VR and AR environments as they become integral to healthcare, education, defense, and enterprise sectors. Immersive systems capture rich biometric, spatial, and behavioral data, creating complex vulnerabilities that challenge both digital security and user autonomy. While technologies like encryption, edge computing, and federated learning offer solutions, ethical and regulatory safeguards are equally vital. Emphasizing privacy-by-design and cross-disciplinary collaboration, the chapter outlines how immersive systems must balance seamless user experience with robust security to ensure a trustworthy and ethically sound digital future.
