Sara Armengot is an Assistant Professor of Spanish in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the Pennsylvania State University and works in the areas of Inter-American literature and film, Caribbean studies and Women’s and Gender studies. Her doctoral work investigated the ways literature and films from the Americas continue to employ typological discourses to corroborate, contest and complicate the idea of America as Promised Land. Her current project is a study of the intersection between environmental and testimonial discourses in Dominican cultural production
