The effect of radiation inheritance in the ordering Fe3Al alloy
Аннотация
Abstract The results of X-ray diffraction studies of the reactor irradiation and subsequent thermal treatment influence upon the structure of the ordering Fe3Al alloy are presented. It is shown that the irradiation of the ordered Fe3Al alloy by neutron fluence 1.0 × 1023 nm−2 causes insignificant atom disordering along its crystal lattice sites. It has been found however that the radiation effects are distinctly exhibited in the previously irradiated alloy for its phase state changes during heating. Thus, critical temperature of “order-disorder” transformation diminishes in the previously irradiated samples versus non-irradiated ones, crystal lattice parameter of high-temperature α-phase at 850°C (0.65 T m) decreases considerably, the linear expansion coefficients of B2- and α-phases are reduced. It has been observed that the radiation effects in the previously irradiated samples are inherited by the high-temperature phases for phase transformations DO3→B2→A2, are preserved for a long time at temperature 1100°C (0.85 T m) and greatly affect the structure of the alloy quenched from this temperature and the processes of its phase and structure reorganization for subsequent annealing.
