Аннотация

The magnetoresistance of bismuth point contacts has been investigated as a function of the transport current and the temperature. The effective temperature of the electron gas in the contact is found to depend weakly on the current, which suggests that the length of phonon emission by hot electrons in such point contacts is considerably shorter than the reabsorption length for nonequilibrium phonons.
