Mechanism of high-temperature oscillations of the magnetoresistance in semimetals
Аннотация
An explanation is proposed for the “high-temperature” quantum oscillations of the transverse conductivity of semimetals. It is shown that these oscillations have a qualitatively different nature from the Shubnikov–de Haas oscillations: they are determined by the singular points of the energy spectrum of the semimetal, which, generally speaking, do not coincide with the Fermi energy; the relative contribution of electrons with such “deep” energies is determined, contrary to the traditional viewpoint, not by the temperature smearing of the Fermi distribution function, but rather by the “collisional” broadening of the electron energy levels, caused both by elastic and inelastic electron relaxation processes.
