Аннотация

Theoretical and experimental photoelectron spectra of ground state and laser excited Cr atoms in the region of the 3p‐excitation are presented. The 3p→4d,5d Rydberg excitations, which are very prominent in the 3d partial cross section of ground state Cr, and dramatically reduced by exciting the 4s electron into the 4p‐shell. SPHF (spin polarized Hartree‐Fock) calculations suggest that the well developed Rydberg series of ground state atoms are due to the delocalization of the 3d↓, 4d↓ and 5d↓ wavefunctions, whereas, the corresponding wavefunctions of laser excited Cr do not undergo such an anticollapse.
