Secret
Аннотация
Abstract This chapter details the author's farewell to his hometown of Hualien, citing his old haunts as well as the vast natural landmarks that have come to shape his childhood—if not his poetry. The sea remains, as ever, an enduring image in the author's works, and it is to the sea bordering Hualien that he bids this particular goodbye. Farewells and leave-takings, the author notes, seems to induce in one a sensitivity for their surroundings—and this is certainly the case with him as he traverses Hualien for one last time. The sea had once opened up the world to him, but as the author takes his leave, he likewise takes the sea with him—as a precious secret.
