Аннотация

William Faulkner (1897-1962) is an American writer, a Nobel laureate (1949), whose work has the power to influence the fate not only of English, but also of world literature, comparable with the works of Shakespeare, Byron and Joyce. Paradoxically, the American writer became a figure of global scale, which had distinguished much in European literature. Faulkner is a native of Mississippi, the center of the most acute contradiction of the South where he lived all his life. Not only Faulkner`s biography, but all his creativity is tightly connected with the special mental structure of this region of the United States, with subliminal (southern) social and psychological problems going deep into history.
