Аннотация

Indonesia’s global economic competitiveness is hindered by a significant talent gap, as reflected in its 46th-place ranking in the 2024 IMD World Talent Ranking. The National Talent Management (NTM) program is a strategic policy designed to address this by aligning human capital development with economic needs, positioning higher education as a key driver. This descriptive study assesses the readiness of Galuh University to implement this program. Data from a survey of 74 lecturers in structural positions revealed critical institutional gaps. Findings indicate a lack of a formal talent management policy (Mean Score: 3.10) and a dedicated task force, leading to uncoordinated efforts. While graduate preparation was rated highly (Mean: 4.40), outputs with direct economic value, such as internationally recognized research and innovation, were underdeveloped. The study concludes that without structured governance, targeted funding, and integration of existing programs, the university’s potential to contribute effectively to the national talent pool and, by extension, Indonesia’s economic advancement, remains limited.
