Phenomenon-Based Learning as a Global Educational Approach: Practical Applications in Modern Education
Аннотация
Abstract. Phenomenon-Based Learning (PhBL) has emerged as one of the most transformative educational innovations in the twenty-first century. Rooted in inquiry-based, interdisciplinary pedagogy, it emphasizes the holistic study of real-world phenomena rather than fragmented subject-based instruction. This paper explores the global adoption of PhBL and analyzes its practical applications across diverse educational systems, particularly focusing on Finland, Singapore, and emerging digital learning contexts. Drawing on recent studies and case examples, the paper argues that PhBL enhances student engagement, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving—skills crucial for the global knowledge economy. However, it also identifies the need for teacher retraining, curriculum redesign, and assessment reform as key challenges to sustainable implementation. The findings suggest that PhBL represents a viable model for integrating 21st-century competencies into educational practice worldwide.
