Inside the Black Box
Аннотация
This chapter unpacks the inner workings and outer implications of generative AI systems that produce synthetic text, images, audio, and video. While these models demonstrate remarkable creativity and utility, they also embody a core paradox: we increasingly rely on tools whose decision-making processes we do not fully understand. Exploring architectures such as transformers and diffusion models, we examine how outputs emerge from complex, probabilistic systems. The chapter also addresses the challenges of opacity, emergent behavior, and limited interpretability, highlighting the need for ethical oversight, technical safeguards, and societal trust in an age where synthetic content is reshaping digital reality.
