The Role of Autoimmune Inflammation in the Link Between Periodontal Diseases and Chronic Heart Failure (CHF)
Аннотация
Over the last few years, a sufficient number of randomized clinical trials have been conducted to identify the association between periodontal diseases (specifically, periodontitis of varying severity) and chronic ischemic heart disease, acute coronary syndrome, arterial hypertension, and metabolic syndrome. Almost all of these cardiac conditions develop against the background of atherosclerosis. The commonalities in the developmental mechanisms of localized periodontitis and atherosclerosis are yet to be fully elucidated; this review is dedicated to summarizing the results of conducted studies and outlining the prospects for future research.
