AI-Driven Legal Decision Support Systems for Strengthening the Rule of Law in Digital Societies
Аннотация
The blistering digitalization of the legal systems has escalated the issues with case overload, discrepancy in cases, lack of transparency, and an unequal access to justice. At this, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Legal Decision Support Systems have become a promising option that will allow to increase the efficiency of the legal domain and maintain basic rule-of-law principles. In this paper, we suggest an AI-Driven Legal Decision Support System (AI-LDSS) which will enhance the rule of law within the digital societies by providing consistent, transparent, and ethically oriented decision support. The suggested system unites legal information processing, natural language processing, legal reasoning based on a knowledge graph, predictive analytics, explainable AI, and human-in-the-loop monitoring into a consistent workflow system. In contrast to the fully automated decision system, the AI-LDSS is an aid system that offloads legal professionals and preserves the power and responsibility of humans. Several performance metrics were used to evaluate the system and they included; predictive accuracy, prediction alignment, processing efficiency, fairness and explainability. As it was proven in experimental research, the proposed AI-LDSS is more effective than traditional rule-based and machine learning algorithms because it has a high predictive accuracy, high conformity to judicial precedents, shorter decision time, low-bias scores, and a higher level of organism transparency. These results show that AI when structured and controlled conscientiously can thus secure the integrity of the law as opposed to eroding it. The paper concludes that legal decision support systems defined by AI can be crucial in the current digital ecosystem and legal justice by enhancing efficiency, fairness and confidence among citizens, thus empowering the rule of law in the digital society.
