Аннотация

Aim of the study. To assess the clinical features of the typical form of celiac disease and the physical development of children depending on adherence to a gluten-free diet. Materials and methods. The article presents the results of a study involving 50 children aged 1 to 14 years with a newly diagnosed celiac disease. The study was conducted at the Gastroenterology Department of the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Pediatrics from 2021 to 2022. Depending on adherence to a gluten-free diet (GFD), all patients were divided into two groups—those who followed diet therapy and those who did not. Results. The findings indicate a wide range of clinical manifestations of celiac disease. Along with enteral syndrome, children with celiac disease showed impaired physical development. The study demonstrated that adherence to a gluten-free diet for 6 months leads to a significantly faster, although not always complete, resolution of gastrointestinal symptoms, a decrease in the severity of extraintestinal manifestations, and a positive effect on anthropometric indicators.
