Features of the effect of vacuum arc discharge on a metal cathode surface in the presence of alkali-metal hydroxides and chlorides
Аннотация
The effect of KOH, NaOH, LiOH, Ba(OH)2, as well as KCl and NaCl deposited onto the surface of hot-rolled steel samples on the results of their processing by vacuum arc discharge is studied. The extreme dependence of the processing speed, processed-surface roughness, and the probability of discharge ignition on the surface concentration of the substances is found. When depositing KOH with a concentration corresponding to the extreme point, the processing speed increases by a factor of 1.8, and the roughness decreases by a factor of 2.5. The results are discussed from the viewpoint of the probabilistic mechanism of the formation of elementary cathode spots followed by the formation of group cathode spots.
