Annotatsiya

Results of a detailed measurement of luminescence in inert-gas crystals at liquid-helium temperature are presented. The temperature dependence of the luminescence spectra of solid inert gases are studied from 2°K to the crystal sublimation temperature. The effect of small additions of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon monoxide on the character of the crystal emissions is examined. Potential curves of the diatomic molecules in excited and ground states are analyzed, with the results supporting the excitation self-capture model with formation of a quasifree molecule in the inert crystal lattice. The process of oscillatory relaxation in various crystals is examined. The origin of long-wave ultraviolet radiation in pure crystals is considered.
