Annotatsiya

An anomaly has been observed in the thermal expansion of the N2–O2 solid solution. The maximum of the anomaly lies in 2.5 °K region, and its relative magnitude for a 1.4% O2 concentration attains a value of 30%. The effect is due to the spin degrees of freedom of the oxygen molecules, but in contrast to the specific heat, only the clusters of exchange-bound molecules contribute to the anomaly.
