Annotatsiya
The current–voltage characteristics of bismuth whiskers 2.0, 2.8, 3.1, and 3.9 μ thick are measured at T = 4.2 °K in zero magnetic field. Features in the current–voltage curves and observation of a residual current in the nonlinear region (j ≳ 104 A/cm2) with the external electric field turned off permit the data obtained to be related to “Cherenkov” phonon generation.
