Annotatsiya
Calcium carbide can be synthesized from limestone and petroleum coke in a furnace employing direct heating by solar radiation. The proposed technological process, based on the firing of an initial limestone-coke mixture by exposure to concentrated solar radiation at a power density of about 110 W/cm2, is ecologically safe and effective, requiring no significant electric energy consumption.
