<strong>Abstract:</strong> The effectiveness of the management of the region is largely determined by the system and complexity in the implementation of its development opportunities. One of the ways to achieve this goal is to develop and implement the concept of regional capacity in management. The article considers modern approaches to the definition and classification of the elements of regional potential, and suggests grouping the elements of the region's potential according to the degree of manageability and the nature of the response to the controlling influence. The essence of the economic potential of the region is investigated, taking into account the influence of external factors.
