Annotatsiya

AbstractElements of nature are directly reflected in Korean literature. For instance five images such as pine, stone, bamboo, water and moon are prevailed in the folk poetry of the Middle Ages. Many elements of nature are observed in Park Wanso's work also. Especially mountain, acacia is one of them.In the novels of the writer Park Wanso, the mountains are embodied as if showing the sad situation of Korea at that time. The mountain shows the actual state of the country during the Japanese annexation. Park Wanso describes this view of the mountain as «a barren and lifeless mountain like a dying old man». The symbol of the mountain even appears in the title of her novel. («Is the mountain really there») There is another symbol of flowers, and flowers have long been a symbol of femininity in Korean literature. In ParkWanso's novels, the acacia flower symbolizes the famine, poverty, and scarcity prevailing in Korea.
