Annotatsiya

This article highlights the critical role of biodiversity in addressing global challenges related to energy, food security, environmental degradation, and climate change. Biodiversity-rich ecosystems provide genetic, species, and functional diversity that support the discovery of novel bioactive compounds for environmentally safe pharmaceuticals. In agriculture, genetic diversity enhances crop resilience to climate stressors and pests, while diversified systems such as agroecology and agroforestry improve soil fertility, water efficiency, and reduce dependence on synthetic inputs. Lignocellulosic biomass and microbial biotechnologies enable second-generation biofuel production, contributing to energy security and decarbonization. Ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, hydrological regulation, soil stabilization, and habitat provision are central to climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. In conclusion, biodiversity is not only a conservation goal but also a strategic resource for achieving global sustainability and resilience.
