Checklist of Oribatid Mites (Acari: Oribatida) from Uzbekistan
Annotatsiya
Oribatid mites (Acari: Oribatida) are among the most diverse and ecologically important groups of soil microarthropods, playing a key role in organic matter decomposition and nutrient cycling. Based on an extensive review of published literature, this study provides the first comprehensive checklist of oribatid mites recorded from Uzbekistan. In total, the checklist documents 121 species and 7 subspecies of oribatid mites from Uzbekistan, representing 84 genera, 51 subgenera, and 48 families, among them 16 species were described with type specimens collected in Uzbekistan. For each species and subspecies, information is provided on their distribution both within Uzbekistan and worldwide. This work highlights the regional importance of Uzbekistan’s oribatid mite fauna and provides a foundation for future biodiversity assessments, ecological studies, and biogeographical research in Central Asia.
