Task-based language teaching emphasizes "learning by doing". This paper analyzes the problems in teaching spoken Chinese as a foreign language, expounds its theoretical basis and applicability, proposes task design principles and procedures, and illustrates them with a case study, confirming that it can effectively improve students' oral proficiency.
