Challenges, Experience and Efficiency of Distance Education System Introduced in Uzbekistan’s State Conservatory During Pandemic

The purpose of this paper is to outline the efficiency of distance education and consider the peculiarities of the implementation of distance education in the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan. The study suggested relatively low level of satisfaction of online education by teachers and students of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan, as well as with the quality of information and its absorption. A methodology was employed based on unstructured in-depth interviews with teachers and students, as well as on observation and survey. The article highlights general technical methodological and specific problems of the implementation of distance education and challenges associated with the introduction of distance learning the teaching staff as well as students faced. Both groups reported connection problems, mainly for those living in remote areas. One of the disadvantages of distance learning was a decrease in the number of contact work of students with a teacher, as well as problems with self-discipline, independence and mindfulness of students. The survey showed the impossibility to introduce an appropriate control in distance education, along with the difficulty of maintaining the motivation of students. The positive aspects for the students were the convenience of choosing the time for online session. The finding showed that the necessity to additionally train teachers and students in online education and the use of Internet resources, and further discussion is proposed in order to outline new opportunities for distance learning in the aftermath of the pandemic crisis.
