CHALLENGES FACED BY ESOL LEARNERS IN NON-ENGLISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES AND WAYS TO OVERCOME THEM
Annotatsiya
This paper examines the unique and often overlooked challenges faced by English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) learners studying in non-English-speaking countries. Unlike learners in English-speaking environments, these individuals face a distinct lack of authentic linguistic immersion, limited practical application opportunities, and specific socio-cultural barriers. The article employs a descriptive-analytical approach to identify key challenges in four domains: environmental, psychological, pedagogical, and socio-cultural. It subsequently proposes a multi-faceted framework of solutions involving technological integration, strategic pedagogical adjustments, and community-based initiatives. The findings suggest that with targeted interventions, ESOL learners in these contexts can achieve communicative competence comparable to their counterparts in English-dominant environments.
