Abstract

The operation frequency of a reaction center of photosystem 2 in an intact leaf has been determined for the first time by the method of correlation analysis. The leaf was illuminated by radiation from a He-Ne laser. Fluorescence was measured at a wavelength of 685 nm. Processing of the experimental data showed that the frequency spectrum of the spectral density of the intensity of fluorescence of the leaf exhibits a peak at a frequency of 1670±50 Hz. This frequency corresponds to a time interval of ∼0.5 ms, which coincides with the time of diffusion of plastohydroquinone in the lipid layer of the thylakoid membrane.
