Influence of the Gap between the Serrated Drum and the Bars on the Mechanical Cleaning of Raw Cotton

Abstract

The gap between the serrated drum and the grating bars in the mechanical cleaning of raw cotton is investigated. It is found that the bar diameter increases in cleaning, while the gap between the gratings decreases. With increase in load, the length of the cotton strands increases. Therefore, for effective operation, each successive gap in the cleaning system must be larger.
